5 Things to Know About ULYSSE NARDIN FREAK LAB
The Ulysse Nardin Freak became the talk of the replica watches on sale world when it burst onto the scene in 2001 with its wildly unconventional dial-less/hand-less time display, and Ulysse Nardin used this groundbreaking timepiece as a platform – some might say Say a laboratory - many new innovations have been made since then. The latest release – the Ulysse Nardin Freak Lab unveiled at this year’s Baselworld – continues that tradition, incorporating a number of world firsts from the collection and the industry. Here's what you need to know.
Believe it or not, it was the first Freak watch with a date display. In its development, the Ulysse Nardin Freak incorporated several of the brand's technological developments, including the first silicon escapement in the original watch in 2001, the two-wheel " Dual Ulysse” escapement. In 2005, the technology grown on silicon became one of the most famous technologies, but never provided the most simple and practical complication, namely the basic date display. The curved date aperture of this new model at 4 o'clock shows the current date (indicated by the red hands) as well as yesterday's and tomorrow's dates, which was made possible thanks to a redesigned dial in which the time indicating elements were moved More below, from the edges (where they obscure the date window) to closer to the center. luxury replica Watches
The watch's Dual Ulysse escapement represents a major upgrade from traditional watchmaking technology. Ulysse Nardin's purpose-built escapement - the heart of Ulysse Nardin's UN-210 movement - does away with the traditional pallet and escape wheel system in favor of two pulse wheels made of silicon (or with the The French word for the brand is "silicon") each with 18 actively meshing teeth that transmit energy through the bung directly to the balance shaft—first in one direction, then in the other. The result is an escapement that requires no lubrication and constantly transmits force in the direction of the balance wheel, minimizing friction. Another good news? When fully wound, the movement provides a full 7-day power reserve.
The floating "upper bridge" has been completely redesigned. Legibility and lightness seem to be the watchwords of the Ulysse Nardin watchmakers when they built the Freak Lab high quality replica watches. The gear train has been reduced in size compared to previous Freak models, allowing the balance and hairspring to be relocated closer to the center of the movement, reducing the overall weight of the dial and making it easier to read time.
A new in-house designed shock absorption system makes its debut in a watch. Ulysse Nardin equips the watch's oscillating mechanism with a new shock absorber called UlyChoc, which is designed, developed and produced entirely in-house at Ulysse Nardin's manufacturing plant in Le Locle, Switzerland. A more traditional shock-absorbing system in a watch movement consists of five parts: movement, base, jewel, counter-pivot and spring. Ulysse Nardin’s patent-pending mechanism replaces three of its elements with a single, one-piece assembly made of silicon; fewer parts means less friction, and the solution also allows the balance wheel to move flawlessly after the watch is struck. Re-center.
The nautical tradition of Athens watch has been subtly reflected in the design. The history of the Athens watch brand is inextricably linked with sailing and sailing. Since its founding in 1864, Ulysse Nardin has been known for its high-precision marine chronometers, and at one time supplied to the navies of more than 50 countries around the world. Today, that heritage is evident in the brand’s “anchor” logo and its Marine Collection, many of which feature nautical blue on dials, straps and other elements. While the Freak Lab's design is undeniably avant-garde and high-tech, it also showcases the brand's naval DNA: the hour indicator hands are shaped like anchors, and the minute indicator rotating bridge resembles sails. Bidirectional rotating bezel for setting hours and minutes (clockwise) and date (counterclockwise) with engraved sea wave motif. (Yes, the Freak now has the date, but still no winding crown; as on previous models, there is a safety clip between the lugs at 6 o'clock to hold the rotating bezel in place to avoid accidental resetting .) Ulysse Nardin even mentions the two main components of its dial-mounted movement, which rotates its own axis on its dial, as "upper" (minutes) and "lower" (hours).
